Things have been certainly a bit crazy around here with Hurricane Irma. I haven’t been posting on social too much or throwing out a ton of new content because when your faced with a catastrophic, once in a lifetime storm it really puts things into perspective. I wasn’t thinking about NYFW or shopping, I was thinking about my family and friends, our safety and hoping for the best. We grabbed the pups, food and necessities and hunkered down with our closest friends and all of our 8 dogs! We were all certainly stressed but tried to make the best out of it, especially with Monday being my birthday and the first full day of no power. There were many drinks had and plenty of card games played along with as many laughs as possible.
Most importantly I am okay and luckily so are my friends and family. There has been a total lack of power which is awful and I have such a huge new appreciation for A/C, lights, refrigeration and internet. Groceries are still way limited but I can’t say thank you enough to not only the people in any type of food service but also the electric companies for working so hard to get everything up and running as quick as possible.
We were also gone for almost a week so I am totally soaking up being in my home and getting life back in order. We got back to our house this morning and after getting settled I felt a little more normal but going out to find some lunch I really realized again how much of the city is down, and we really didn’t even get the brunt of it, some areas in FL/GA/SC definitely have it much worse.
If there is really one thing I could ask of you it would be to NOT return leftover supplies, please donate them! Also I Support The Girls is an organization that I stand behind 110% and not only do they take bras (used or new) and menstrual hygiene products for the homeless but they are accepting donations for victims on the hurricanes as well. Most people forget about those products but they are necessary for women, homeless or not. You can check out a full list of places to donate supplies to here.
We are through the worst and now it is time to continue to work together and recover.
