A few things I love that I typically think about a few times a day when making purchases is my community and the environment. This translates into how I take care of myself, the things I buy, and the places I shop. (By no means am I perfect at sticking to things & places that are 110% green or non corporations, but I try).
With that being said, I ran into a friend today that was freaking out because she has a sty, is breaking out and her engagement party is this weekend. Luckily I had some solutions for her that are totally easy and non-harmful to yourself or the environment!
Number 1 recommendation:
This is my absolute go-to. I have break out prone skin and this works exfoliating miracles, not to mention Lush products are fresh and handmade, they fight against animal testing and they practice ethical buying methods amongst many other great charitable campaigns. They also land themselves number 2 on on Teen Vogues “5 Awesome Beauty Brands That Reward You For Recycling” list (you can bring five empty, clean Lush pots in for a face mask).
Cucumber! I got stys when I was younger and putting just a slice of cucumber on your eye for a few minutes really is the cure all. It is obviously natural, edible and non harmful to the environment. Plus it just feels great and refreshing, helps with swollen around the eyes in general so even if you don’t have a sty do it up! Not to mention drinking cucumber water will keep you hydrated which is great for your health and skin.
Tea Tree Essential Oil, again it is something natural and a total miracle worker. Just a dab on a cotton swap and then onto your blemish and let it do it’s work. I do have to say it smells strong and minty so be prepared for that. This is also my favorite thing to keep around for burns. As soon as you feel that heat burn your skin just drop some Tea Tree on there and you will avoid the blistering and the pain will be gone sooner than later, by the next morning I pretty much forgot it ever happened.
It was shocking to me that she didn’t know about these already so I just had to share with all of you.
Try these tricks out and let me know what you think!
